Emmy Hess

Medical Assistant/CMA (she/her)

I was born in a small town called Marion, KS, where I became a CNA at the age of 16 and CMA at 18. Working in healthcare facilities at home led me to KU, where I am now studying biology, Spanish, and religious studies. I hope to go to medical school after KU! Working at the county jail here in Lawrence really opened my eyes to those who struggle with mental health and addiction. I am grateful for the opportunity to work here and be apart of a team who cares about this side of healthcare as much as I have grown to. The world needs more advocates for mental health, and I hope to be a better one through the knowledge I will gain here.
I love to travel and soak up different cultures and experiences. Painting, second-hand shopping, listening to music, and spending time with my family are some of my favorite pastimes. I also love buying and caring for my houseplants!
