Sagan Smith is a Licensed Master Social Worker with 7 years of experience practicing therapy with clients ranging from 3 years of age to adulthood. She has extensive experience working with children, adults, and families that have endured significant traumas from a multitude of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Sagan utilizes a variety of therapeutic methods; this allows her to tailor services to meet a client’s needs. These methods include techniques drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent Management Training-Oregon model, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and other evidence-based approaches. Sagan’s practice is also influenced by a number of therapeutic principles such as Empowerment Theory, the Strengths Perspective, Person-in-Environment Perspective, and Social-Cognitive Theory.

The first session with Sagan will involve a strengths-based intake process where she learns more about what brought the client to her, the client’s goals, and expectations of the therapeutic process. She practices ethical values and principles in line with the NASW Code of Ethics, as well as understands the importance of confidentiality in a therapist-client alliance.

More importantly, Sagan strives to lay the foundation for a strong and safe therapeutic relationship that starts from the very first interaction with a client. Sagan looks forward to partnering with clients to re-discover their inherent strengths and skills, as well as empowering them to utilize their strengths to reach their goals!
