Brittany is a social worker based in Kansas City, Missouri. Brittany was born and raised in Southwest Missouri and has lived and worked in the Kansas City Metro area since 2015. They received their Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Developmental Disabilities from Pittsburg State University in 2011. They received their Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas and are a licensed social worker in Kansas and Missouri.
Brittany has enjoyed a variety of jobs in the social work field, including experience working in a children’s residential facility, as an intensive-level mental health case manager for families, as a behavior therapist for individuals with Autism, as a health- and mental health-focused home visitor for Early Head Start, and as a support coordinator for individuals with developmental disabilities. Brittany has had internships in therapeutic recreation, as an intake worker and then therapist and group co-facilitator at a domestic violence agency, and as an assessor and therapist working primarily with individuals involved in the legal system- including those involved in domestic violence, substance abuse, and sexual offenses. Brittany has additional special interest in affirmative practice with the queer community and people who feel marginalized by society, as well as those dealing with grief, loss and trauma.
Brittany believes that mental health is just as important as physical health, and that the two are often connected. Brittany works from a strengths and empowerment perspective and uses evidence-based practices including elements of EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Brittany believes that finding a sense of belonging and community can help us stay resilient. They are passionate about social justice, noticing everyday wonders, and outdoor adventures. Brittany is available for both in-person and teletherapy appointments.
